Rubidium (Rb) is element number 37 on the Periodic Table of Elements, characterized by a silvery-white and soft metallic appearance. It is an alkali metal, belonging to Group 1 of the Periodic Table. This positioning signifies that Rubidium possesses a single electron in its outermost electron shell, predisposing it to very reactive behavior.
Like other alkali metals, Rubidium readily loses this lone valence electron to achieve a stable electron configuration, forming a positively charged ion (Rb+). It reacts violently with water and oxygen, resulting in Rubidium hydroxide (RbOH) and liberating hydrogen gas.
Rubidium has two naturally occurring isotopes: stable Rubidium-85, accounting for 72% of its natural abundance, and radioactive Rubidium-87. The latter is notable for its use in geological dating methods.
At TXRocks, we understand the strategic importance of Rubidium and its increasing demand in industries worldwide. We are proud to be a reliable source of this critical mineral, ensuring a consistent supply to cater to the needs of various sectors.
