Scandium

Strontium (Sr), atomic number 38 on the Periodic Table, is a soft, silver-white, yellowish metallic element that is highly reactive chemically. The metal forms a dark oxide layer when exposed to air and, in its pure form, quickly reacts with water to produce strontium hydroxide and hydrogen gas. It is part of the alkaline earth metals group, which also includes beryllium, magnesium, calcium, barium, and radium.

Strontium has four stable isotopes and several unstable isotopes, known as radioisotopes. The most prevalent stable isotopes are strontium-88 and strontium-86, while strontium-87 and strontium-84 exist in lesser quantities.

This element is typically found in nature within the minerals Celestine and Strontianite. After extraction and processing, Strontium can be used in its elemental form or in one of its many compound forms, such as strontium carbonate (SrCO3) and strontium nitrate (Sr(NO3)2).
