Scandium

Scandium, with the chemical symbol Sc and atomic number 21, is a rare, light silvery metallic element that belongs to the transition metals of the periodic table. It demonstrates a unique set of properties, including a high melting point (1541°C) and boiling point (2836°C), making it resistant to heat and suitable for high-temperature applications.

Though Scandium is relatively soft, it is renowned for its ability to strengthen other materials. When alloyed with aluminum, it creates a compound that is not only light but also extremely strong, resistant to corrosion, and able to withstand high temperatures.

Scandium is generally found in low concentrations, dispersed in the Earth’s crust. It’s primarily extracted from thortveitite or recovered as a byproduct from uranium mill tailings. Scandium’s rarity, coupled with its challenging extraction process, underscores its preciousness in the industrial world.

At TXRocks, we take pride in being a leading supplier of Scandium, understanding the vital role it plays across various industries. Our commitment to responsible sourcing, rigorous quality checks, and customer satisfaction ensures that we provide the best Scandium products on the market.
